E-Bike Tour of Cader Idris
Suitable for: Intermediate +
Ascent: 955m
Distance: 40km
This wonderful Cader Idris E-Bike tour starts and ends in Dolgellau. It takes us all the way around Cader Idris, Mid Wales’s iconic peak. A fantastic day out for those E-Bike riders who are looking for a more chilled journey rather than the trip to the mountain summit. We’ll be using ancient byways, drover roads and bridleways to make our way around the mountain. The views are jaw-dropping and there’s still some challenging climbing to be done even with the help of our batteries so don’t underestimate this big day out!
What’s the riding like?
Our Cader Idris E-Bike Tour leaves Dolgellau on National Cycle Route 8 until we reach the first beautiful bridlepath descent down to Tal y Llyn Lake. It’s then bridlepath and back lanes to the pretty village of Abergynolwyn. A stunning trail above a crystal clear river takes us to the mighty climb to the ridge overlooking the Mawddach estuary.
The climb to the high bwlch (col) of Esgair Berfa (500m) has to be one of the steepest yet entirely rideable bridlepaths in Wales! We’ll show you the best way to ride steep climbs on the E-bike and maintain a steady pace while keeping the front wheel down. Then, once we join the stunning Ffordd Du track on the Traws Eryri route, its scenic, flowy riding back to Dolgellau via the beautiful Cregennen Lakes to enjoy the best coffee and cakes in Mid-Wales at T H Roberts Cafe.
