What does the weekend look like?

Friday – Arrival from 4pm. Get settled in with a cuppa and snacks. Later in the evening we will all gather to discuss the weekend adventures over a wonderful dinner. Once plans are made and questions are answered we will soften our bodies with a short, nourishing yin yoga session. This will get us ready for a good nights sleep!

Saturday – Meeting for a vibrant, wake-up yoga session we aim to warm the body and mind for the day ahead. Final plans will be put together around breakfast. Then we collect bikes and kit for a quick ‘safe bike and person check’ before packing our bags and riding straight from the door. During the day we will be riding beautiful, forest and mountain trails where we can practise skills and build confidence on varied terrain – our day on the bike will be full-on but super fun! Mixing up the marked trails, bridleways and more natural ‘off piste’ around the famous Marin MTB trail means you’ll be challenged physically and mentally. However, with our support and guidance, everyone will find opportunities to really push their riding and boost their head game. We’ll be heading back to base in the late afternoon for a warm shower and some well earned tea and cake. Next will be a deep dive into a muscle release, recovery session which will  soothe those aches and pains. Dinner will be served amongst discussions of where our Sunday journey will lead us!

Sunday – A slightly more leisurely start to the day, leading us into our warm-up yoga and yummy breakfast. With our lunches packed in our bags, we’ll be out the door and taking on one of the classic journeys of the local area, covering miles that will guarantee smiles. We aim to be back at the farmhouse for mid afternoon with enough time to enjoy some tea and cake and load up the bikes. You will be  floating back to reality, ready for Monday morning with a whole new buzz for riding and a group of new, riding buddies to connect with!

What will we eat?

We’re here to nourish you; with movement, with adventure and with food! Our menu will be wholefood, plant-based for the weekend, and you’re in for some treats!

We will be serving you two, three course evening meals (Friday and Saturday), two healthy and nutritious breakfasts (Saturday and Sunday), and two packed or picnic lunches (Saturday and Sunday). When we return from riding both days, you’ll also be treated to some well earned tea and cake… after all, we only go riding to earn cake, right?!

We aren’t serving alcohol on the retreat, but there will be plenty of teas and juices to hydrate you. We’re not saying don’t drink, you are more than welcome to bring something to enjoy in the evenings with your meal or venture out to one of the two nearby pubs after dinner, but our plan is to keep you hydrated, alert and raring to go for the whole weekend! Please note ** alcohol before a yoga session is not recommended, so we will be advising against post-ride beers this weekend!!**
If you’re curious about a wholefood, plant-based diet, or love to be adventurous with your food, then we love to share our passion for cooking (and eating). Feel free to hang around the kitchen and see what’s going on!

What’s the accommodation like?

You’ll never want to leave! Our beautiful, converted farmhouse is hidden away in the forest, next to a lake and river just outside the village of Capel Curig. There is a stunning view of Snowdon not far from the door and we have a pump track and skills area on site as well as a beautiful yoga space in the adjacent barn conversion.

All rooms are single, en-suite. A large living/dining space brings us all together to eat, rest and plan our adventures. The adjacent building hosts an additional chill out space, with yoga room and bike workshop.

There is secure indoor storage on site for bikes and ample parking.

Is this for me?

This weekend is aimed at:

  • People comfortable riding red grade trail centres, but wanting to feel more confident exploring natural trails beyond the signposted routes
  • Anyone looking to improve their biking skills on more ‘off-piste’, natural terrain
  • Those who have ever felt stiff or slow after a days riding, and want to maximise their recovery for the next day (no previous experience of yoga or plant based eating required!)

KATH from RIDE HIGH MTB COACHING
Kath is most at home on a mountain bike! After 30+ years working in education, both in the mountains and the classroom, Kath is now the driving force behind Ride High MTB. She’s travelled the world on her bike, raced in DH & Enduro events, and has been at the start line of the crazy mass-start Megavalance and MaxiAvalanche races! Her coaching has developed from a love of riding and sharing that with other people. She’s got a cool, calm head and wants to see you ride at your best! Kath is our head coach and bike skill guru for the weekend, you’re going to learn a lot from this one!

SAM from MOUNTAIN ENDURANCE
Sam is a mountain keeno! Whether it’s on her bike, skis or feet, she is mostly found outdoors and muddy! Sam is a yoga teacher, personal trainer and bodywork therapist, and specialises in keeping the outdoor enthusiasts fit and managing their injuries. Sam has been running yoga and outdoor adventure retreats since 2016, creating a whole food, energy rich environment for you to thrive in. Sam is our yoga teacher, injury specialist and head chef for the weekend, and she’ll be coming along for the riding too, because she hates to miss out!
