About Us

Why choose a Guided Ride with RideHigh MTB?

Your holiday time is precious and you have a wide choice of where you go and who you book with – We get it!

You don’t have time to spend hours researching routes, trails and the best cafes and pubs. Do you want to have to stop to read a map/look at your phone at every junction? How about the stress of dealing with the weather, accidents, or mechanicals? I’d guess not!

RideHigh MTB have spent many hours researching and planning our rides to enable you to simply turn up and enjoy your day(s) out riding. We will solve any issues that arise and enable you to make the most of your mountain bike break in Eryri (Snowdonia).

The mountains and forests of North Wales are our playground as well as place of work. We know every inch of the mountain bike trails and have options for both bad and fantastic weather!  Most importantly, we know the best post-ride cafes and pubs for those all-important, post-ride refreshments!

Kath Goodey

Lead Guide & Coach

I’ve been an educator both in the mountains and the classroom for over 35 years and have taught, coached and led people of all ages and from all over the world. Mountain biking is now my main focus and passion. My skills and experience on a bike have developed through riding extensively in the UK and Alps as well as trips to Canada, US and Morocco. Because of my ski racing, rock climbing and mountaineering background, I can offer a unique depth of experience to my RideHigh MTB clients.

I have raced DH and Enduro in the UK and Europe. Also, events like the Megavalanche and the MaxiAvalanche series in France and Italy. My claim to fame was coming 2nd to Rachel Atherton in the Welsh Enduro Champs in Machynlleth in 2017! However, my heart is really in the high mountains. I’m happiest planning and accompanying clients and friends on awesome two-wheeled adventures in the big hills.

My bikes are: Ibis Ripmo, Nukeproof Reactor and Specialised Levo Expert (E-Bike). Favourite trails are close to home in the Gwydir forest, but also the amazing, alpine trails and ridgelines of the Aosta Valley, Italy.

I have a B.ED Degree in Outdoor Education, an M.ED in Applied Linguistics and hold both British Cycling Level 2 and 3 MTB Leadership qualifications. Additionally, the British Cycling L2 MTB Coaching qualification as well as Mountain Leader Award and Rock Climbing Instructor Award. I also have a current Outdoor First Aid qualification and Enhanced DBS Clearance.

Josh Butler

Guide

Josh moved from North Devon to North Wales in 2017 to live in the mountains, pursue a career in the outdoors and to be closer to the world class riding in the area.

He started riding mountain bikes in secondary school and has ridden ever since. After moving to North Wales, Josh has taken up other mountain-based interests but cycling still remains his main passion. He works as a Mountain Leader and a Level 3 Mountain Bike Leader based in Eryri, but has worked in various locations throughout the UK.

Josh’s  bike of choice is his extra large, full 29er, 2021 Commencal Meta TR. It’s a great do it all bike, which really comes into its own on big days out in the mountains. His  local riding destination of choice is the Gwydir Forest. With such a high proportion of high quality trails and a great team of local trail builders keeping them running, it never fails to provide no matter the weather! Josh is also an active trail builder, regularly putting time into local trails. His claim to fame is working on Gee Atherton’s Ridgeline projects as well as on track prep for RedBull Hardline.
